And while the residents had success in getting the board to again listen to their concerns — allowing over 300 new houses in an already large housing project with only one exit — the commission eventually stuck to its initial decision, saying it’s the only way to make safety improvements to the road.

Organizer in the Island Green community has been hosting food truck events for the past five weeks.

The events began with about 15 people and one truck and it has grown every week. The goal is to help resident get the goods they need.

Horry County started picking up storm and flood debris on the county-maintained roads in the unincorporated areas on Monday. This does not include privately-owned roads, like Saint George Lane and Sunnehanna Drive.

The 123-acre golf course was purchased at auction last week by Robert Williamsen of Cornelius, N.C., for approximately $1.6 million. Williamsen foreclosed on the property off S.C. 707 in Myrtle Beach based on a defaulted loan of $1.45 million made to then-course owner Ray Watts in November 2015, according to foreclosure documents filed in Horry County.
